Icons:

“Tell a friend”: 

You can use this to tell someone you know about the app by text or email. If you select 

More you get the normal iOS Share menu.

“Notifications”: 

This is where you will receive notifications. Here are the different types of notifications:

  • Someone liked one of your posts
  • Someone commented on one of your posts
  • There is a Dog Event occurring near you
  • There is a new DogHood article available to read
  • Someone posted a question or responded to a question you posted
  • Friend request  

Posts:

The main portion of the screen is devoted to posts by the user. A post consists of the following:

  • The profile picture for the dog (if provided)
  • The name of the dog
  • The name of the owner
  • The option to make a post as a favorite or to block it
  • The text of the post
  • The location of the image or video (if provided)
  • The image or video posted
  • The number of likes (clicking on this will increment or decrement the count)
  • The number of comments (clicking on this will display the comments and allow you to add your own)

Swiping down on the latest post will refresh the list. Swiping up on the last visible post will load more (older) posts.

Tab bar:

Below the posts is the tab bar, which provides access to different areas of the app or allows quick actions.

“Home”: This will take you to the main area of the app, the Posts section.

“Invite”: This will display Play dates and Events near your location. The following filters are available:

“All”: All events will be displayed

“Today”: Only events occurring today will be displayed

“Tomorrow”: Only events occurring tomorrow will be displayed

“Week”: Only events occurring this week will be displayed (what about past events??)

“Month”: Only events occurring this month will be displayed

Once you have selected a filter (the default is “All”) you can scroll up and down through the available events.

An event consists of the following:

  • The poster of the event
  • The date/time the event was posted
  • A link to a page within the app that displays more details about the event
  • The date (day of the month) of the event
  • The day (name of the day of the month) of the event
  • The month and year of the event
  • The title of the event
  • The time and location of the event
  • The “Let’s Go” button: this will allow you to notify others that you intend to attend
  • Badges indication the number of people attending

Swiping down on the lates event will refresh the list. Swiping up on the last visible event will load more (older) events.

+: Tapping on the giant blue + will bring up Quick Actions (listed from top to bottom):

  • New Post
  • Take Photo/Video
  • Ask a Question
  • Create a New Event
